What are crepes

Crepes are traditional French pancakes that are made to be very thin. You want to know the best thing about crepes? The possibilities for flavor combinations are endless!

Crepes are the perfect addition to any brunch menu, or indulgent, delicious midnight snack.

How to make crepes at home

Sweet or Savory Crepes, here are the ingredients you’ll need.

Sweet crepes

2 cups Whole Milk

4  Large Eggs

1.5  Cups AP Flour

2 T Sugar

1 T Vanilla Extract

2 T Kosher Salt

1 T Butter (Melted)

Savory crepes

2 Cups Whole Milk

1 Tsp Granulated Garlic

4 Large Eggs

1 Tsp Onion Powder

1.5 Cups AP flour

1 T Sugar

2 Tsp Kosher Salt

1 T  Butter (melted)

Crepes technique

It doesn’t matter the ingredients, the technique to make the perfect crepe is the same.

  1. Melt butter in the microwave, then add it to the blender while still hot.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until completely smooth and no lumps remain.
  3. Transfer batter to an easy to pour container or use a ladle to pour a thin layer of batter on a preheated and pan spray coated crepe pan. Cook for about 15 to 30 seconds per side.
  4. Serve warm.

Brown Sugar Banana Jam topping

Don’t forget to top off you sweet treat! Here’s what you need to make a fruity topping.

1 T Butter (Unsalted)

½ cup Dark Brown Sugar

3 Ripe Bananas

½ Tsp Kosher Salt

1 Tsp Vanilla Extract

Brown Sugar Banana Jam technique

  1. Melt butter in a sauce pot over medium heat.
  2. Add ripe bananas, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  3. Continue to cook over medium heat while stirring until bananas start to break down into small pieces and the mixture thickens.
  4. Serve warm.

Whip Cream Topping

If you prefer a classic topping, here’s what you need to make whip cream topping and how to whip it real good.

1 Cup Heavy Cream

2 T Powdered Sugar

Pinch of Kosher Salt

  1. Combine all ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment.
  2. Mix on medium to medium-high speed until it reaches stiff peaks or is thick enough to dollop on crepes.
